Evaluation of standard essential patents by the Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center (JIPAC) The Japan Intellectual Property Arbitration Center (JIPAC) makes evaluation to determine whether or not a specific patent is essential to implement the functions and effects defined in applicable specific technical standards (hereinafter referred to as the “Applicable Technical Standards”) according to an agreement between JIPAC and the licensing organization of the patent essential for the Applicable Technical Standards (hereinafter referred to as the “Licensing Organization”).
